OK, perhaps not the sort of publicity we would necessarily wish for Perl, but Gary McKinnon, the cracker currently facing extradition to the USA from the UK, mentions using perl in this interview with the BBC.

<Irony alert! Irony alert!>

This is precisely why I always promote .Net for safe computing. Their compiler actively prevents you from hacking into other peoples' networks by prohibiting random data streams over untrusted sockets.

Rumor has it that .Net 3.0 will proactively send cease-and-desist letters on your victim's behalf, while alerting the BSA, the FBI, and the RIAA.

No, the graphical remote viewer works frame by frame. It's a Java application, so there's nothing to save on your hard drive,

Now that really sounds like alien technology.

A picture viewer written in Java that operates remotely over dial-up and leaves no evidence proof on your harddrive. Cool.

He also used Java!

Oh, and he used a computer!

The guy's photo sure makes him look sinister.... not the typical Perl hacker.

And his motivations ("UFO dissimulation") sound weird. This guy is probably a bit crazy...

Forget the alien technology. I am just glad they spelled Perl right!

i strongly recommend to look at the sources he talks about: http://www.disclosureproject.org/ this don't seems to be an hoax.

or maybe your the poor, can't accept reallity. dont be such quick in jundging others. the existence of ARV (Alien Reproduction Vehicles) is one of the best statet facts, because the widespread doubts.

Yeah sure. And God looks us from the top of the clouds, and during christmas night ol' Santa Claus brings presents to children, and when you're dead you don't simply rot but go to Heavens. Excuse me, but I haven't ever seen a tiny part of the shadow of the tail of an evidence of any of these (and yes, I've seen UFOs but I don't pretend them to come from Alpha Centaurii until I know better, I just don't believe, I'd rather know you see?).

update Sorry, I don't try to take it easy with your beliefs, friends, because I simply can't stand "political correctness", it's way too close to hypocrisy. But feel free to send me any proof :)

you simply should dig deeper, it is possible to seperate hoaxes from real items. yes most ufos are human-made but not all. even in the 70*ies the IBM material researcher Dr Marcel vorgel was gaven metal samples from ufo case of billy meyer. before camera he statet that he cant reproduce that material because it should have been assembled in some sort of cold fusion. and that was only one piece of puzzle of too many to make a joke of this subject.

I don't make a joke of this subject; all those credulous pimps that simply believe anything (or pretend anything, in that matter) do. I'd really like it to be a serious subject to study, unfortunately there are so many crazy gurus (Rael and co), liars and mythomaniacs that it's a dead-end for science right now, because whatever facts you may collect are buried under a haystack of bullsh*t.

vogel was no pimp he had over 30 patents in material research and was on of the cutting edge researcher at IBM. his only became part of the case because others asked him to analyze this metal sampel. he showed it also to his colleges and all came to the same conclusion. i know there are many mislead person, everyone it is to some degree but there is definitly more truth out there than most people wants people believe. if you are real to this things you have to be patientent. most ufo videos are unfortunatly hoaxes also the ones with the obducation. but there are also some very bright man out there with much clue. and to bring this back to the topic. it is pure ignorance that the disclosure project has just eye witnesses. the have digital radar tracks, copies of clasified dokuments, official unclassified material and much more. its definitly wotrth to check it out and make an own opinion. look these people into them eyes. most people are not rocket scientist but they can smell a liar due life experience.

Er quite, from what I can read of sources that are not firmly planted in the tinfoil-hat camp this analysis was faulty if it actually occurred at all.

I went to that site and looked for a while without even being able to find a claim that they had evidence, let alone the actual evidence. Then only thing they do have is recorded statments but you have to pay to see them. Now if they had actual evidence of aliens in any form what-so-ever don't you think it would be in the biggest boldest letters on their front page? That website only managed to convince me that this is a scam of some sort to get peoples money. Charging for something when the whole idea is disclosure seems a bit odd doesn't it?

The project is run the government^W the men in black and the reason they charge is so they have proper documentation of who they need monitor. And if they think that you are really are on to something, they will pop by your house and put so much LSD in your orange juice no-one will ever believe a thing you say..... If you recover at all that is.....

please read more careful. like i said they have much more material, photos, radar tracks official docs and so forth. for these you have to also pay the book or subscription on the site because these guys need money to run the site. they have very high traffic, like you have seen the counter is above 8mio and even some videos like the initial press conference with 25 wittnesses is free. if you need some more hard hitting than these material, they organize also trips where you can see UFO like other people before.

in times these guys came out and had their press conference it was the most live watched thing in the interernet history up until today. And as dr. greer stated, no politition or goverment employe he met ever joked about this issue. in fact most was convinced that this was an issue. i know i get downmodded for this the 5th time but nevermind.

What I *really* want to know is: why were supposedly secret military sites accessible via the internet? If you want to keep something secret, why in BoB's name do you put it on the internet?

/me is rather perplexed - didn't they bother to read "The Cuckoo's Egg"? :-)

But if you've read "The Cuckoo's Egg" you shouldn't really be surprised then ...
