I first got into wonderful Perl for two reasons because I had 2 jobs - one was to run configuration management stuff for a group of developers using clearcase and C++ (I don't know C++ myself). I dumped that job but still use Perl at my now full-time other job - running my shop www.mastersgames.com. My aptitude with PERL is middling - I still feel that I have a heck of a lot to learn...
